Rippingale Stores

Friends of Rippingale Post Office - FORPO

We were all shocked to learn that the Rippingale Branch Post Office has been included in modernisation of the Post Office Network - ie to close it.

Watch this page (it will be updated regularly) to learn of the latest progress in the fight to save our Post Office.

This HAS gone national - Click here to visit the National Campaign website

(January 07 - there may not appear to be much happening on the surface but there is still a lot going on underneath!! - We have not given up yet - THIS HAS GONE NATIONAL - many local groups all over the country are joining together to fight the closure of viable well used post offices)

The 'Public Consultation' started on Monday 1 October 2007 and ended on Monday 12 November 2007 which was the closing date for all correspondence.

Please click here to read a message from our shop keeper Simon on the closure, and
click here to read a copy of the "Proposed branch closure" document issued by the Post Office - hard copies can be found in the shop.

This link will take you to the consultation documents that have lead to the Local Post Offices closures: www.dti.gov.uk/consultations/page36024.html

Follow this link to read the BBC news item on the closures and make your own comments to them.

Thank you to all those who helped by signing the two petitions, and writing to the relevant authorities:

There was a petition in the shop with copies at the Bull and the Doctors.

The e-petition (now closed) to the Prime Minister is on the '10 Downing Street' website. Please follow this link "http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Rippingale/" and see.

Hundreds wrote and emailed the relevant authorities - an individual letter/email speaks louder than a hundred signatures!
